Blog Assignment #52 Part 1
The former Alaskan governor, Sarah Palin,visited Haiti on December 12. She was accomponied by her daughter and her husband. The trip was hosted by Franklin Grahm. She also visited some cholorea treatment centers. Palin says that the conditions in Haiti were much harsher than she expected.
Many people are expressing their oppinion that Sarah Palin on stayed in Haiti for less than 48 hours. They think that she should have spent more time there. I think that Sarah Palin did a good thing. She reached out and helped the people of Haiti when they are in a time of need. It should not matter how long she stayed there.
In conclusion, Sarah Palin opened her heart and showed compassion to the people of Haiti. We should be willing to help others. We should be willing to sacrifice what we are doing to lend a helping hand.

Blog#52 Mid-Term Assignment/ NY Times Bestseller list
The Hunger Games:
I enjoyed reading this book. I am not a huge science fiction reader,but this book and series was awesome. There are three books in The Hunger Games series. The Hunger Games is the first book, Catching Fire is the second book, and Mocking Jay is the third book. The series was written by Suzanne Collins.
The Hunger Games introduces a sixteen year old girl named Katniss Everdeen. She lives in the country of Panem, where North America once stood. In Panem there are twelve districts,and the capitol which is like the central city.Each year there is an event where the capitol chooses one boy and one girl from each district to fight in what the capitol calls the hunger games.The hunger games are to show the people that not even the children are above the capitols power. All twenty four kids fight to the death in an arena. The last one standing wins the hunger games.
This was a great book. I definitely recommend it to others. The Hunger Games will leave you wanting more. All the books in the series are great. Suzanne Collins is a great author.

You can also go to Barnes and Nobles and read free books on your nook for up to one hour a day. Next we have the Kindle from Amazon. The kindle starts at $139. It has a
6 inch screen. It can hold up to 3,500 books. It has built in Wi-Fi. There are over 750,000 books on the Kindle site. The books are normally $9.99 or less. You can also download and read sample chapters of books before you buy them. The Nook and Kindle are battling it out. Which one will win?

Wife Gets 10 Years In husbands death:
Kendra Talley was given ten years for participating in the death of her husband. Talley pleaded guilty last month for manslaughter. Tommy Rowell was also involved in the killing. She will also be serving an additional five years for drug charge. Rowell will be serving a life sentence in prison.
New Orleans Saints Defensive End Will Smith Arrested:
The saints defensive end,Will Smith, was arrested over the weekend. Will Smith said that he and his wife were visiting his wife's family in Lafayette. On Sunday there was a misunderstanding that caused him to be arrested. Smith claims that it was not a Domestic violence issue and his wife was not injured. Others however believe that it was.
Elderly Women Killed by Teens:
A seventy year old lady was found dead in her kitchen. She was stabbed several times. Then delivered a fatal blow to her head with a microwave oven.Another incident was when a fourteen year old girl killed another elderly woman.All three of these teens were charged with murder.

Johnathan Manuel was sentenced to four years of prison after pleading guilty to gun possession. He pleaded guilty to engaging in a gun battle. Manuel was already in custody in Jefferson Parish for driving his car into a home. A sherrif tried to stop Manuel after seeing a unsecured child. He was also tossing a hand gun out the window. He was also seen driving his four year old niece in the car,and she was standing on the front seat.

Murders of Two Officers Were cold blooded killings:
A man accused of cold-blood killings allegedly fired one bullet into each of the officers heads. When he saw one move he shot them again. It is reported that the victims were armed, but did not have enough time to react to the situation. Herring told the witnesses that he had killed the man. He was afraid that he would have to go back to jail.
Coat Brings As Much Joy as Toy:
Over the past years Luther Burbank elementary school lets the children write letters to Santa. Many of the children their do not wish for toys. Instead, they wish for boots,coats,hats,socks,etc. Many of the children do not have coats,hats,or,boots.Many of the kids do not receive anything for Christmas. Many corporations and individuals have helped to make sure every child who has sent a letter receives a gift.
Notary Says her Signature Was Forged on Mayoral Petitions:
A notary public says that her name was forged on 400 plus nominated petition sheets. The notary's signature was found on several petitions from a homeless man. The man claims that he did not forge the signature. The notary said that she does not remember signing those petitions. She has no idea how her name ended up on those papers

The hit musical Wicked is set to return. The musical has been around for 3 1/2 years. The show has earned $210 million dollars in box-office. The musical is based on the Wizard of Oz, but told in the Wicked Witch of the West perspective. The performers are working really hard to make the musical great.

A man and two teens were injured after a home exploded. The two teens were in a home next door. The blast sent bricks flying through windows across the street. The man received burns and other injuries. The two teens injuries were minor

This can be a section where we inform readers about all the fun things going on in Louisiana. We tell them the name of the event. We tell them the price. We tell them if it is family oriented. Many people are looking for fun things to do on the weekends.
In the newspaper, they have a Fun section where it gives you a list of things going on. They tell you where it is and the price. They also tell you how long it will be going on. I like to look at this section of the newspaper. It tells me all of the things happening in Louisiana.
We can inform the readers of family oriented events. Many people like to take their children places. The place should be fun and safe for kids. I think this will be a helpful section.

Article On Veterans:
Since today is veterans day, we should do an article on veterans. We should tell the readers about the veterans. Whe should tell them why they are important in our country. I think this will be a good way to honor the veterans. It is also a good way to remeber them.
Veterans are so improtant. Some of them have died so we could be free. Others have fought and come home mentally or physically ill. I think we should never forget the veterans. They are heros.
We should inform the readers of places dedicated to helping the veterans. We should inform them about the history behind veterans day. We should inform them about who invented veterans day. We should tell them why veterans day was invented. They should also know why it is important.
I think veterans are awesome. They are brave. They fought so that we could be free. They sacraficed their lives for our country. I give them high respect.
Student's Voice:
Student's voice is something we already do. Many students have ideas about how to improve the school. Students like to voice their opinions. They like to be heard. This section is for students to voice their opinions.
I think the students voice is a good way for students to say how they feel. Many students have very good ideas. The ideas should be kept respectful. Ms. Moise and Mrs. Desalco may even take into consideration these ideas. As long as the ideas are clean and respectful, They may actually consider your idea.
Their are always new ways and ideas to improve the school. I think all of these ideas

Blog Assignment #39/ 5. Fav Hobbies
5 Favorite Hobbies:
Reading- Reading is my passion. I can read for days and days. I love books. When I go into a book store, my eyes grow big. I could spend my entire day in a book store or library reading.
Sleeping/Relaxing- I love to sleep late and relax. It relaxes my mind. After a long week, I like to relax on the weekends. Sleep is good. We are supposed to sleep and relax.
Shopping- I love to shop. I love to go to the mall. If I could live in the mall I probaly would. I love to go shopping on the weekend. I like shopping.
Dancing- I love to dance. Dancing is a way to express yourself. I could dance all day. I can dance with music or without. I like to dance.
Writing- I love to write. Writing is another way to express yourself. I like writing stories. I have always loved to write. I like writing.

1.) The Bible-This is the best book anyone could ever read. It has many different stories and parables. It tells you how to live. You learn more about God. This is an awesome book.
2.) The Last Song- This is a great book. It is about a girl who rebels. Her parents are divorced. She goes to live with her dad. She resents her dad, but later finds out why her mom sent her to live with her dad. Some parts of this book are very sad , but it still was an awesome book.

Blog Assignment #37/5. Fav movies
5 Favorite Movies:
1.) Beauty and The Beast- I love Beauty and the Beast. I loved watching this move when I was a little kid. My mom just bought it for me. I watch this movie when ever I get a chance. It brings out the little kid in me.
2.)Titanic- This movie is awesome. It is so sad. Whenever this movie comes, on I have to watch it. I love the characters in this movie. This is a great movie.
3.)Avatar- This was a good movie.I loved the blue avatars. This was the hightest grossing film since Titanic. I'm normaly not a Sci-Fi fan. This movie; however, was really good.
4.) The Last Song- This is a great movie. I'm not a fan of Miley Cyrus, but this movie was good. I read the book and it was awesome! This movie was very touching. It is a spectacular movie.
5.) Stomp The Yard- I love this movie. It is about this this boy who is sent to live with his aunt. He goes to college and joins the step team.I enjoyed watching this movie. It is a great movie.

3.) Toby Mac- I have listened to some of his songs.He is a christian rapper. He has won grammy's. He has produced many albums.He lives in Tenesse.
4.) Flyleaf- I've heard of this band from a friend I have heard a couple of their songs. They sound good. They are an american rock band. They were formed in Belton and Temple Texas. They have produced many albums.

Blog Assignment #35/My Weekend
My weekend was not that eventful. I slept and relaxed. On Friday, I left school. I went to "the 99". Then I went home. I went to sleep at 2:30 a.m.
On Saturday I slept late. I went to the mall with my mom and sister. I went to fall festivals at different churches. Then I came home and watched Titanic. After, I went to sleep.
On Sunday, I woke up early to go to church. I went to church. I finished my homework. I relaxed. Then my family ate ribs, potato salad, macaroni, and green beans. Then I prepared to go to school the next day.
I also went to the state fair. I had fun. I went to my oldest sisters house. Then I went to Wal-Mart with my mom. I got a whole bunch of candy from fall festivals.
The weekend went by fast. I was not ready to come back to school. I tried to relax as much as I could before Monday came. I had a fun weekend. I can't wait till next weekend.
My Goals To Accomplish:
1.) Get all A's on my report card
2.) Lead my relatives to the Lord
3.) Go Skydiving
4.) Ride a bull
5.) Go to Paris
6.) Go to Hawaii
7.) Learn how to speak Chinese

Blog Assignment #31/ My Choice Feature
Chewing Gum
There are several different flavors of gum. Gun comes in different types, flavors, and size. Different flavors of gum are being invented every day. I was chewing a piece of gum one day, and I started thinking of where gum came from, what it is made of, and who first invented it.
Chewing gum is a type of gum made chicle. Chicle is a natural latex product, or synthetic rubber. Chicle is used for butyl rubber, which is used for inner tubes and tubeless tires. Due to the economy and quality many chewing gums are made of rubber. Other countries still use chicle.
Chewing gum has existed since the Neolithic period.Many different cultures used gum for different reasons. The modern chewing gum was developed in the 1860's. Chicle was exported from Mexico to use as a rubber substitute. It did not suceed as a substitute for rubber, but as gum it swept the market.
The United States military often supplies their soilders with gum. It helps them concentrate and relives stress. The armed forces have been providing their troops with caffinated chewing gum. This gum is used to keep the troops awake.The military is even sponsoring gum.
The manufacturing methods are constant between gum brands. First, the gum base is melted at a temperature of 239 °F until it has a viscocity( a slow flow) like maple syrup. Then it is filtered by a mesh screen and the dissolved particles are seperated and then filtered. The clear base is then put into mixing vats, and other items such as glucose, powdered, sugar, and corn syrup are added. It is then pored onto cooling belts and cooled, and placed aside for 24 to 48 hours.
Chewing gum relieves stress and helps improve concentration. Chewing gum is used all around the world. Sugar free gum is known to help reduce cavities and plaque. Gum can be beneficial, or a hinderance. Gum comes in all shapes and sizes.
